Columbus Columbus vittachu leavuuu!!! - I

Easter holidays engaluku naalu naal koduthanga, chumma iruppoma? So off we go and visit Scotland!! Namma England-ku niraya edhiris, adhula onnu Scotland..but no visa required. Ippodhane UK vandhirukom, so mudhalla visa illadha idama polam-ntudhan indha Scotland payana decision.

And this post (and the next couple of posts) are going to be pic-logs, so pics+info-odaye post panren, so that I dont give an over-dosage of pics or information.

Scotland - 1st point: It is a country of castles!! Idhu historic country, so you can find a lot of castles converted into shops/banks/hotels/houses etc.

Enna bandha paarunga, cliff-mela oru veedu! Eppadidhan anga poi servanga therila..chopper?! And Edinburgh suthi veedellam indha color-ladhan irukum, and you can see that they are old. But sema ornate-a irukum! Indha veedu (castle) extends in the behind too, but since I dont want to get into details, I am stopping here.

This is Glasgow Square. Glasgow-ladhan Industrial Revolution sema high-range-a introduce aagi and then became a kathu pona balloon. As a result, people got jobless and soon the city had more drunkards than people who work. Glasgow has a history of Catholics-Protestant rift which also had its share in the reduction of jobs (HP episode) in the city.

This is Scott's Monument in Edinburgh. Sir Walter Scott-nu oru famous writer irundhar, and this monument was raised in his memory. The statue in the middle of the monument is Scott, thalaivar had a carriage with horses, and regularly frequented a place called Melrose. Apparently, ivar sethapodhu, andha carriage-la vachu bodu eduthutu ponangalam..appo oru idathula the horses stopped for some time - and that place is called Scott's View and has a breathtaking view - this was where he used to go frequently in Melrose.

RBS-nu oru bank iruku, Royal Bank of Scotland. Scotland-laye periya and wealthy bank idhudhan. If you see the offices of RBS, ellame edhavadhu periya ornate building-adhan vachirupanga. Like the one here, somehow all offices seem to be based on an old historical building. Probably we should appreciate the way they select the offices!

Last of all, look at this lonely castle on the shores of some lake amidst mountains..clarity nalla irukadhu coz I had taken it from a moving bus like the RBS pic above, aana I liked the fort. Anegama naama pazhaya books-la ellam padikara madhiri ferries-la dhan povanga, "mayakkum malai pozhude nee vaa vaa"-ntellam romantic-a boat-la paduvangalo ennamo, but it is scintillating to have a fort alogside mountains and waters.

That's about it for now. If you had liked these snaps, I plan to continue with Scotland's famous Rosslyn chapel that figures in Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code and the lakes and mountains of Scotland. Oru change-ku en kodumai ezhudama padam podaren ;) Aana ippadi ellam permanent-a padam poduven-tellam nappasai vendam, en kodumai ellam thirumbavum varum :))

I am always fascinated by the Scotland’s Mystic Past. Its Celtic pagan roots intrigue me.

If I am not mistaken Theosophical society was started in Scotland. I am sure Usha you have seen every part of Scotland a lot to say about them.
