Ofcourse Mahabaratham has sown seeds for scientific advances like IVF. Kadavul la arambichu munivargal varaikum pora varavangalai ellam kooptu kooptu kuzhandhai vangikaranga ladieslam idhula (?!) no one seems to be the right heir.
Anyway back to dharma - mudhalla this swayamvaram, enna ivalo comedy panranga andha matterla? Indha Amba ponnu yarayo love pannumam aana adhai sollama swayamvaram vaipangalam. Adhudhan kodumai na, indha Beeshmar payyana kootitu pogama ivare adavadi adichu ponnungalai thookuvaram! Ayya swayamvaram na ponnungale choose pannikardhu, neenga poi namma payyandhan choice nu sollikardhu illa!!
Aduthu Draupadi! Madam, if you and your dad want a specific person, why not call him directly or stick a 100 posters around your country asking for him? Idhuku oorpatta princes call panni, adhuku selavu panni, podha kuraiku oruthanai insult panni...why this kolaveri? Avangalukellam enna vera velaiya illa, for all that time they can be trying for another girl!
Seri Draupadi gets married and goes to Pandavas' house, where Kunti says "Share what you got" without even looking at what they got. Theriyamadhan kekkaren, how much time will it take to explain to her that it is a girl? Mom soltanga-nradhukaga nijamave people share the girl?! :-o Ada atleast Kunti should know right?
I don't want to cite the entire Mahabaratham, there are a lot of such incidents but what I don't understand is, we are told to learn our virtues from epics. But idhula adichu thookaranga, teacher student-oda virala kekkarar, oru ponnai 5 per katranga, vari vazhangara karnan gets insulted and killed, mathavanga time ellam waste panranga but they get victory at the end...ketta trivial athumeerals for the greater good nu simple answer solduvanga :) I suppose namma oor political parties madhiri, who is the better of the worst nu parthu win panna vachitangalo?!

I had same kind of queries on my most favourite story 'Mahabharata' (even before watching TV serials) but reading books like 'Ajaya' by Anand Nilakantan and 'Jaya' by Devdutt Pattanayak gave a better view... See if you could try reading these books...
Yeah true, but it is facinating, since I watch tamil, hindi verisons for the past 6 months. One more is there jodha akbhar too. Cant' ask logical questions. Just pasted one of my explanation from fb here.
About Mahabharat-Karna, My Favourite: Karna is portrait-ed by many as inferior to Arjun. Just I want to share some facts, Karna in Hindi, Karnan got educated from PARASHURAM and 6th Avatar of Vishnu for 12 yrs. Arjuna learnt from Drona. Drona and Bheeshma were the disciples of Parashuram. In Bheeshma and Karna learnt for more time with Parashuram. Drona went to Parashuram to get bhiksha for living. Since Parashuram doesnt have anything he teaches him Dhanur Skills. So Arjuna learnt from Dhrona who is equivalent to Karna and Bheeshma. There was Sudarsan Chakra of Lord Vishnu, Trishual of Lord Shiva, Pushka Vimana all these were from sun light dust. Surya needs to reduce his heat to love his wife. To make this request Surya gives his power(sun shine) as three things, which will be used by lords. Now the story is KARNA was give with the all three together as KAVACH KUNDAL., with that no one can defeat and that will work as protective gear and invincible. Even it came from birth, this is also like the equivalent to "death of bheema will happen when wish'. Also, it is already, Karna who defeat Yarasanth, Karna is equal to bheem, Dharam like Yuthister, Archer equals or more than Arjun, Beautiful like Nakul and Brainy like Nakul. Dhaurapathi use to request to god for a husband with all the characters. Karna is one who had all the qualities. But same like bheesma even very worser than bheeshma he was denied his rights. It is not at all parallel to compare arjun and karna. Only thing is Arjuna was protected by Divine God Lord Krishna. In the entire Mahabharath, "Titanjali" in Tamil "Thithi" was by god to only one person, he was Karna. Lord Krishna himself did the Titanjali. Titanjali will be done by son to his father. All these facts had been buried or not given importance. No one says Arjuna is less., but it is not worth compare Arjuna with Drona, Bheeshma and Karna. Kunti get promise not to kill "other four brothers" and He cannot use his Nagastra more than once. He was cursed by Parashuram, He was cursed by a Brahmin, He was stolen with the Kavach, Kundal by Lord Indira and give his "Vajrayuth" for only one time use. A Sutharsana+ Trishual + Push vimana = Kavach Kundal, Indira gave his "Vijarayuth" which is no were equivalent to Kavach Kundal and that too he can use only onetime. Till the 14 day of war, Krishna use to drive Arjuna by not meeting Karna, Karna may use that "Vajrayuth", so he makes him to meet Arjuna after Karna delivered the "Vajrayuth" against Gadoth Gach. Here one more point, Krishna told the truth that pandavas were their brothers. Karna will now as per dharma "He will never kill all his brothers" and elder needs to sacrifice for the Younger and Dharm needs to win, so he will tell he will die in the war. Arjuna also a great archer, but handpicked and driven by his guru. You cant match Karna with Him. He is first and best of Kunti. He use to tell "Aunt Gandhiri looses 100 child, let you(Kunti) mother loose atleast one, that too your eldest son". When krishna told, Arjun will be your charioter, Yuthister will be your minister, Bheem will be your protector, Nakul and Sakadev will be in your seva, "Please come with me"., for that he will reply, " I cant come Krishna, If come Yuthister will provide me the crown, which will inturn will be submitted to Dhurithodan, in that case Dharma will go down"., So please dont reveal me as brother of Pandava and Elder to Yuthister. Yuthister will never ascent to crown if he got know that Karna is the elder. He will get promise from Krishna not tell till his death. Thats why Krishna will He is "Punyathama" in that war.
